
Museums in the SHARE region once again recognised the massive contribution of their volunteers at the annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony on 9th June. The awards had been open to all Accredited museums in the region and those officially registered as ‘working towards’. The categories and winners were;
Behind the Scenes Award
Winner – Phil Giller at the Museum of East Anglian Life
Highly Commended – The Volunteer Team at Stevenage Museum
Shortlisted – The Collections Team at Epping Forest District Museum, Brian Wearmouth at the Museum of Power, Leslie Lawrence at the Museum of Technology
Bringing Innovation Award
Winner – Jean Pegg at Ramsey Rural Museum
Highly Commended – Dick Waylen at the Museum of Power
Shortlisted – Simon Wild at Melford Hall
Community Award
No outright winner
Highly Commended – Leiston Men’s Shed at the Long Shop Museum, ‘Portals of the World’ Volunteers at the Fitzwilliam Museum
Front of House Volunteer Award
Winner – Sheila Sorley at the Long Shop Museum
Highly Commended – Museum Stewards Front of House Team at John Bunyan Museum & Library
Shortlisted – Sue Whiteley at Gainsborough’s House, John Allcock at Melford Hall
Learning Volunteer Award
Winner – The Learning Team at Gainsborough’s House
Highly Commended – Jacquie McGregor Hall at Chelmsford Museum
Shortlisted – Mini Museum Club Volunteers at Ancient House Museum of Thetford Life, Museum Volunteers at Essex Police Museum, the Learning Team at Higgins Bedford
Outstanding Young Volunteer Award

Volunteer Management Award
