Collections are at the heart of a museum. They are what make museums and galleries unique, and what makes them valued and treasured by the public. Across the East of England, staff and volunteers are passionate about their collections and keen to develop and share their knowledge.
Over the coming three years SHARE Museums East will continue to offer a range of training opportunities focusing on collections care, documentation and collections management. To support participants develop their collections care skills we will be actively encouraging use of our newly developed Collections Care Syllabus, and accompanying learning log. The collections Care Syllabus provides a framework to structure learning and can be used by individuals for self lead knowledge development.
We will also be encouraging museums to consider how they use their collections through other areas of our programme, particularly through work on co-production and engaging children and young people.
Funding opportunities in Collections Care will be advertised on this website, our eBulletin, and via Twitter.
