Trainer: Sarah Holmes (freelance photographer)
This training is for all museum staff who are required to photograph objects within their collection and who have previously attended Point and Shoot or a Photographing Collections training session.
The training will include:
- A recap of key camera settings for photographing objects
- An introduction to advanced camera controls
- Lighting techniques
- A practical session focusing on specific object types requested by participants
By the end of the session participants will:
- have had a refresher of the key settings on digital cameras that will enable them to take better photographs
- will have gained an understanding of some of the more advanced camera controls for more challenging situations and/or more creative images
- developed their skills in lighting objects
- developed more confidence in photographing objects for their museum
Tea and coffee provided, but please make your own arrangements for lunch.
Please note: Participants need to bring the cameras they use at their own museum and the charger where possible. Cameras need to have fully charged batteries and cleared memory cards.
Participants will be asked to identify issues they want to work on in the practical session in advance. This should enable the right type of objects being selected for the practical.
