As part of our 2015-18 activity plan SHARE Museums East is working closely with the county Museum Development Officers to support museums in their forward planning process.
Forward planning is a vital component of the Accreditation return and is a central tool to support museums in becoming more resilient.
Through group discussion and individual support these seminars will cover:
- An Introduction to the Forward Planning process – involving your staff, volunteers and stakeholders
- Accreditation requirements
- Developing a master plan and an action plan
- Case studies of successful processes in other museums
- Available resources, templates, case studies and other sources of help
- Practical first steps
- The SHARE Effective Forward Planning grant scheme
A successful forward plan involves as many people invested in the museum’s future as possible. We strongly recommend that at least two people from your museum attend a seminar. To support this more effectively we ask that one should be a member of the governing body or museum committee and one a key staff member or volunteer engaged in day to day decision making.
There are two seminar dates available but the content will be the same in both locations so you only need to book for one day.
The seminars are free and open to Accredited museums and those who are actively ‘Working Towards Accreditation’ across the region. The two seminar locations have been chosen to best reflect those areas in which museums have been or will shortly be invited to submit an Accreditation return in the coming months.
Grants of up to £1000 to support your forward planning process are also available from SHARE Museums East.
Attendance at either of these seminars will greatly help to focus and strengthen a grant application.
Deadline for applications: 5pm Friday 20th November 2015
