This programme is now full. If you would like to contact us about it please email sally.ackroyd@norfolk.gov.uk

A free three part course for Accredited Museums and those Working Towards Accreditation in the East of England.

Three days in which we will look at both the day-to-day management of volunteer roles, and what volunteering can mean for your museum’s bigger picture. We will move through the stages of volunteer involvement from defining the need for volunteers to saying goodbye.

The programme is designed to assist you to develop good practice at your museum, fully support the delivery of your Forward Plan and to help you create great ambassadors for your museum. (This programme is also available in Colchester on 16th Jan, 20th Feb and 13th March – please look on the Training programme calendar to book these alternative dates/locations.)

Who is it for? Anyone (both volunteers and paid employees) working on the co-ordination of volunteers in museums.

It would be ideal if at least one person from each museum could come to all three days. But, we appreciate this may not be possible, so museums are also able to book for just one session or another member of the team could represent the museum on different days.

We will be offering a pre-programme meet up at your museum to meet your teams, and start to look at how volunteering works as part of your overall museum thinking. These meetings will take place in November and December 2017.

To support the museums’ work during the programme a closed Facebook group will be set up.

Administered for an initial period of 3 months by the course facilitator, the aim being to continue the momentum generated by the course and to provide a safe environment to share information and obtain support beyond the classroom.

Trainer: Linda Brandish – Volunteering Adviser
Linda has been working with the Voluntary Sector for 15 years and has worked with SHARE on previous Volunteer focused training opportunities. Her approach is very much as a discussion facilitator and she encourages participants to bring their own examples and ideas to the sessions.

Day 2 –Wednesday 14th February – Now you’ve got them, how do you keep them happy and focussed?Motivating and Developing Volunteers
